Math Decimals

Today I learnt new stuffs about decimals.I learnt that ten hundredths are the same size as one tenth. Our mathematic teacher Mrs Mellick said it’s important to sound out the “th” sound.Mrs Mellick also said you have to poke your tongue to the teacher when you sound out the "th" sound, but you can’t poke your tongue if you’re not sounding out the “th” sound. She said that you can’t say like eg 2.76 you can’t say it like two point seventy six the correct way to say it is two point seven six.

We also learnt how to write fraction to decimals and decimals to fraction. It was a bit hard on other people but I knowed the answers.

I had a lot of fun because it was math to me when it comes to math it’s fun.Remember Math is Fun.

Maths and Fairy tales

Hi this is my maths using character or  object from fairy tales. Our class has been working on fairy tales not so long ago.So our teacher Mrs Melick had a genius idea  to use fairy tales characters or object and combine them together. We ended up with a word problem.I hope you have learnt new things from maths.

Rapunzel
Once upon a time there was a young girl named Rapunzel.
She grows her hair 30 cm a day.
How many days will it take her to grow 1 metre?

Red Riding Hood
Once upon a time there was a  girl named Red Riding Hood she has a Granny and her Granny was sewing Red Riding Hood’s hood.Red Riding Hood wanted her hood a little bit long down about 25 cm. But her Granny did 5 times longer. How long did Granny sew??

Snow White
Once upon a time there was a girl named Snow White she has seven friends they are called the dwarfs. Each everyone of them are 82 cm.
They have to get there cookie that is on the shelf. The shelf was twice taller than them.If the shelf is twice taller than them than how tall is the shelf??

How to work out :

Rapunzel
100 cm is 1 m

I divided 100 by 30
I got 3 remainder 10

So the answer is 3 days.

Red Riding Hood
I times the 5 times longer by the 25 cm.

I got 125 cm that is my answer.
Snow White
I times the each dwarfs length 82 cm  by the shelf that is 2 times taller than them. I got 164 and that is my answer.

Matariki

Hello everybody this is a Matariki song. Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in mid-winter – late May or early June. For many Māori, it heralds the start of a new year.

Jack and the Beanstalk

Hi here is my Jack and the Beanstalk
Once upon a time, there was a Giant that lives in a castle, with his Giant wife.He has a hen, he would say “Lay !!”  the hen would lay a golden egg. He had lots and lots and lots of money he would count them every morning. He also has a harp when he says “Sing”  the harp would sing nice and relaxing songs, but when it sing nice and  relaxing songs it made the Giant go to sleep straight away.He was the riches Giant in the clouds.

When the Giant was asleep, he smelt blood of an Englishman, he went downstairs to his wife and say “Fee fi fo, I smell the blood of an  Englishman” the wife would say “what you smell is twentyfive juicy ribs for breakfast” then he sat down with joy just to eat twentyfive juicy ribs. Then after he ate he counted his money, he was asleep then a sneaky little boy sneaked out with his money. Then the next day he was asleep again, while he was asleep he smelt the blood of an Englishman then he went back downstairs to his wife and said “Fee fi fo, I smell the blood of an  Englishman” the wife said “what you smell is twenty five delicious sausages for breakfast” then he sat down and eat his sausages for breakfast. Then the next day he was playing with his toys.He smelt it again so he went downstairs and said “Fee fi fo, I smell the blood of an  Englishman” his wife said what you smell are your delicious bacon I made for your breakfast. Then he ate breakfast after he ate he brought out his harp he said “Sing” it sang sweet and soft songs then the Giant went to sleep, then the sneaky little boy that stole his money and his hen, stole his harp. When he took his harp the harp screamed out “Master I have been kidnapped “ the Giant heard it then he ran after the little boy. When the giant almost caught him climbing down the beanstalk. The little boy said to his mother “Mother grab the axe” the mother ran and got an axe and gave it to the little boy and cut the beanstalk and the giant fell down. The Giant died it was a sad ending for the giant and a happy ending for the little boy.The Giant lived not happily ever after.

Sleeping Beauty

Once upon a time long time ago, there was a far away kingdom. There was a King and queen who gave birth to the baby princess. The child was so beautiful and sweet that the King could not contain himself for joy.  He prepared a great feast and invited all his friends, family and neighbours.  He invited the fairies, too, in order that they might be kind and good to the child.  There were thirteen of them in his kingdom, but as the King only had twelve golden plates for them to eat from, one of the fairies had to be left out.  None of the guests was saddened by this as the thirteenth fairy was known to be cruel and spiteful.

The first fairy gave the baby the gift of kindness, beauty and helpful.then the twelve fairies each presented their gift. Then in came the thirteenth fairy and said “ How dare you did not invite me to this feast” then she said I am now going to present  my gift to your new born baby. She made a curse on the baby girl she said “ When she has turned fifteen she will prick her finger on a spindle she will die”.The king was unhappy then the last fairy had to present her wish she said “When she has turned fifteen she will prick her finger on a spindle she will not die but to sleep for a 100 years.

When the princess turned fifteen there was a tower she went up the tower she saw an old lady sitting there with a spindle  wheel, the old lady said to the princess “Would you help me young lady ??”.But the princess has never seen a spindle before in her whole life then she gave it a go she did not realized that it was the thirteenth fairy. When she helped her she pricked her finger. Then she fell down and she looked like she was dead but she was not dead she was asleep. When  the twelve fairies noticed that the princess has fallen asleep they cast a spell on to the whole kingdom to sleep. Then a prince from another kingdom he tried to get through the vines that the evil fairy made. The prince came up with his mighty sword and cut down vines. When he made it to the castle, the fairies were waiting there for the prince to kiss the princess and the princess and the whole kingdom  will be awaken. Then the fairies showed the prince the tower he went up and KISS her. Then they LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
